The cultivation of the olive tree has been interwoven with the Greek land for centuries. Since ancient times an olive branch has signified reconciliation, a willingness to cooperate and appease, alliance, peace and prosperity. We drew inspiration from this concordance of concepts in order to name the extra virgin olive oil we produce “PHILION OIL”. For precisely in the word “PHILION” the concepts of friendship and hospitality, of alliance and co-operation are encapsulated. No other name could accurately describe the qualities of our pure extra virgin olive oil.

Because it is amicably related to the health of the human body and it acts as its ally. It is inextricably linked with the fertile Greek land and the production. It is a characteristic of hospitality and courtesy, since you can easily treat a guest at home to a little pure olive oil spread on a slice of sweet smelling freshly baked bread. Bread, wine and olive oil are the three basic commodities on every table in Greece.

From the childhood experiences and memories in our olive groves and the old traditional olive presses, from selling our olive oil at my grandfather’s convenience store, where the tasters used to buy it in big earthenware jars which were brimming with the scent of the fresh, juicy and fragrant olive oil, from the fresh pure virgin olive oil spread on a slice of bread warmed up on the wood stove, we went on to the realization of a lifetime dream. Taking over the family estate of organic farming in the fertile land of Nea Anchialos, Magnesia, some of which is located at the required altitude and in the vicinity of the sea, we proceeded to the production of an extra virgin olive oil, worthy of the place where it is produced, and we did so with much care and interest for the final result. With diligence and integrity we managed to turn out a product that is pure and of the highest nutritional value when it reaches the consumer, so that it truly becomes an ally for the health and the longevity. A true blessing!

The high nutritional value of our olive oil meets our strict requirements regarding the olive oil extraction from olives we have harvested by hand and not mechanically, directly without the time-consuming waiting in the olive mill, inside the very clean and thoroughly washed tanks, with the malaxation not exceeding 40 minutes and 27 ⁰C, so that all the beneficial ingredients of the precious olive oil are preserved and always under constant monitoring of every stage of the extraction process. All the above contributed to the production of a “limited edition” extra virgin olive oil which has the following ingredients, and which we proudly offer to you.

We have hand-picked and not mechanically harvested olives from olive trees of the Kalamon and Koroneiki variety, at the end of November and early December, in order for the olives to be kept uninjured, without cuts and bruises, we have put them in large well ventilated plastic crates, transferred them on the same day to a modern olive mill equipped with state-of-the-art and internationally recognized machinery of the Italian Group “PIERALISI”, and have put them through the process of olive oil extraction directly afterwards in order to avoid the oxidation of the olive oil and keep its acidity to a minimum. Also the use of organic preparations, fertilizers and zeolite has helped render our olive oil organic and 100% free of harmful substances.

Its distinctive aromas which are prominent when you open the bottle are due to the fact that the olives were correctly harvested, to the extraction of the olive oil which took place correctly and directly afterwards, and also to the ingredients of the land we cultivate in our olive groves. The latter are located within a small distance from the sea but at the same time at a proper altitude (250m.), which is the perfect combination that gives the final touch to the perfect painting of taste and quality delight that is our extra virgin pure organic olive oil. The breeze from the sea of Ancient Iolcus where Jason set sail from on his ship “Argo” to reach Colchis in search for the golden fleece, along with the clean air from the fertile even since antiquity Thessalian land, contributed to the production of a true miracle, to the creation of “PHILION OLIVE OIL”.
